History

The United Way of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County was established May 24, 1957 by:

The United Way of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County was born out of the Chamber of Commerce and was originally known as the United Fund of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County.
Since 1957 the United Way of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County has raised more than $20 million dollars to invest in our community. This began in 1957 with the first campaign raising $45,165 which funded eight organizations. In 2005 $1,006,961 was raised which supports 33 partner programs in 2006.
